Minnesota River Pike

Any suggestions for fishing pike on the Minnesota River? I have never targeted them specifically besides in the spring when the streams are high. There has to be some big fish in there. Any ideas?

I've never targeted Pike on the Minnesota but I have caught a few incidentally usually while jigging for Walleyes. I got one on a Mepps spinner one time while fishing for white bass and my wife caught one on a crappie tube on a slip bobber. I don't see why any of the regular pike lures wouldn't work, just more snags to look out for.

What about using suckers? I suppose the worst thing that could happen is hooking into a big cat.

Try bright colored floating Raps in the feeder creeks. Thats how we used to catch them on the sandcreek when I was a kid twichin Orange or chartuse was the best.

I havent really targeted them on the main river cause I'm always chasing kittys but I think if you put in the time you could find some real nice gators in there.

ya cheap bright bargain bin cranks will hit northernes all over the place. I like bright blaze orange. can never go wrong with a spoon either.
