Carp Spawn

Recommended Posts

Or maybe the fourth of july, carp spawn with very warm water temps. On a normal year they would spawn in August.

i dont know where you get your information. but the spawn is over and done with way before august.

carp spawn in water temps around 68-75F

normally by late june, early july, they are finishing up with their spawn. and move to their summer haunts.

here is a little fact for you guys.... kinda cool. but carp eggs hatch in just 4 days after being laid!

they were already spawning out here last week, water temps were around 66 in a flooded area.

I've always heard when the temps hit around 62-63 they will start spawning.

while night bowfishing in WI a few years ago around July-August we did witness carp spawning at like 4-5am; they are known to spawn more than once a year, but the initial spawn is early to late may in most areas

Did a web search for info on second spawn for carp in MN. This thread popped up...

So, I have been catching some carp lately that have been showing sighs of spawning activity, and it confused me a bit.

Now I think they're actually spawning, at least it sure looked like it from the activity in the water...

Here are a few pics that made me question initially whether my carp fishing was about to get a bit tougher....
