Humminbird Update Problem

Nick Kuhn

Question

Still waiting to hear back from Hbird on this one but maybe someone here can help.

Last night when I updated to version 4.78 (on a 798C) of the software everything went smoothly until I started playing around with things afterwards. Now whenever I switch to a view that has the 2d overhead GPS (strangely the birds-eye gps view works fine) my unit reboots or freezes. If possible I'd like to simply re-install the update and see if that would fix it. Is there a way to do this? Otherwise is it possible some settings are just way off? I can run the 2d GPS views up until the GPS gets a position lock, at which point it will instantly restart.

Nick, I would go to the sideimagingsoft HSOforum and download an older version of the software for your unit. You'll need to register on the site to download the files. Load an old version, then update again. Generally that is the suggested method if a new update is found to be 'glitchy'.

Great info from both previous posters.

Go back a version, then update.

What is the reason youre updating?

If your unit is/was working fine, Id stay down a version or two until they release the newest update. Theres some bugs associated with the current version that are worth avoiding.'
