Best product in years. I'm a believer!!

I went out on Lake Winnebago with my cousin Tom and myself yesterday afternoon. I bought the DROP-N-STAY "Deuce" anchoring system and it was put to the roughest test I could dish out to it.

We were in 20 plus mph winds, 3-4 waves trying to anchor in about 20 ft of water. I had 80 foot of rope out on each of my anchors, one an 18 lbs river anchor and the other a 24lb Richter anchor. Both anchors have 4 foot of chain.

We were moving about 1.8 mph with the anchors out and getting some white caps over the gunnels and the bilge was going.

So, I pulled out the "Drop N Stay" and put it to the test. I took away the river anchor and just attached the Drop-n-Stay "Deuce" to the Richter anchor. I had 80 foot of rope out, boat sideways and we didn't move at all.

It also seemed to stop the boat from rocking so crazy up and down as well and the white caps stopped coming in the boat!! How does it work? I dont know, but I actually don't care as long as it works.

Not to leave it there, i wanted to see if i could still hold with less rope.

So only using 60 ft of rope, it still held. Tried 40 foot of rope and we still held. At about 30 foot of rope, we did start to move, but I have to say the winds had picked up quite a bit and a boat did come strangely close to us creating a lot more wake when it happened.

Just from that--I am a firm believer in the product!!.

My cousin Tom who was with me and lives on Big Green Lake about 20 miles away, wanted to try the "Drop N Stay" with his pontoon. We wondered how it would hold a 24' top heavy boat that would definitely be blown around by the wind.

So we drove over to his lake and went out in the same kind of weather, waves, depth, etc. Same exact results. It held wonderfully and actually we used only 30 ft of rope with the pontoon. (not sure why that is).

So all in all, you can come out with 20 new different kinds of jigs to lure a walleye, ten different anchors that will cost a small fortune and anything else you want to put on the market, but if you cant hold still or control your boat with these products, what good are they?

Now the weather wont dictate what days i can fish anymore (except lightning!!).

I've had it happen to me several times before where i took a week off of work to go fishing, and many of the days I couldn't go out because of high winds and not being able to hold in a spot. The weather dictated where i could fish and when.

We all know that when the weather picks up, the wind turns on, so do the fish and their willingness to bite. Now i can be out there on the water when i want to (which is 24/7).

The Drop-n-Stay gets a definite thumbs up from this guy and I would say if you dont have one yet, get one!! (unless you are fishing against me in a tournament).

I see that the Drop-N-Stay company sponsors the open forum page so you can get to their HSOforum from there or just go to: Drop N Stay

Great Job on the Drop N Stay whoever you are that make it. Great quality product!!

I though about getting one last year and never got around to it so seeing this post I ordered one yesterday and got notice it was sent today already. Looks like the will work ,do you need one for the front and rear anchors?

If you ordered the single I would recommend getting a Deuce as well. The Deuce can be used with one anchor straight off the bow or off the side. This gives it great versatility. You can even use it off the back with a drift sock.

Now if it gets really windy/rough and are trying to anchor on a gravel bottom for example one anchor might not be enough. In that case just use one side of the Deuce off the front (like a single) and the single off the back.

Basically if you have one of each you are covered no matter what the conditions. It really takes a lot for the Deuce to not hold by itself when anchoring sideways. When using it off the bow I have never had it slip.

I hope that answers your question and good luck this season!

I know Winnebago gets rough and I've personally experienced a weekend of waves there where you couldn't stand up in the boat without holding onto something, in 20' Rangers as well. If you can anchor in that... grin
