Fiberglass rod blanks

Im looking for a 6'6" medium action fiberglass blank to use for another downrigging rod, and all I can seem to find is really expensive St. Croix ones. Anyone know any good dealers that could get me one for say 40 bucks?

I like Gator Glass blanks. Cheap and extremely durable. I just ordered a 7'6 15-50lb blank for another flathead rod, but they make all types of blanks. Mudhole is where I get most my building supplies from.

Ok, so I ended up getting a gator glass blank, and it is huge! I cant seem to find cork that has a .819 inner diameter, does anyone know where i can get grips to fit a blank that big?

You'll have to ream one out.

Yep start filing I file all my handles to fit anyway, not tape or bushings.

Alright, I found a .75ish one, so I shouldn't have to file much. Now the only bad thing is I will have to return my old handle kit, because I decided not to pay attention to the size haha.

One more question though, will regular size guides like you would use on a medium graphite rod work, or will i have to get bigger ones because of the size of the blank?

Blank size doesn't really matter in terms of guide size except make sure you get the right tube size for your tip top.

Correct, you could use micro guides if you wanted, but being a downrigger rod you would gain nothing.

Alright, thanks for the help, I already made sure I had the right top and I think these guides will be a pretty good size for it as far as looks.
