Strut zones?

So.....during the mid-day, are gobblers more likely to strut in open fields or more secluded, smaller openings? I suppose that depends on how much pressure has been put on them, amongst other things. Just looking for a general idea.

Personally, when I know I've located a strut zone, it's been in at least a semi-secluded place. Either a tight corner in a field or in an opening in the woods.

They'll strut in the wide open when they have hens but if they're just showing off and calling for company, they seem to like some privacy but with at least some visibility.

Not only do they need the space to pace back and forth and court a hen but they probably know they're vulnerable to predators and need a couple seconds to react to a charge.
