jjz
I have a late 90s Honda 90. Does anyone have any pointers on getting that engine to idle at around 750-800 rpm. I do run 91 octane. It idles perfect at 900+, but trolls perfect at 750 however it will not run long (spits and sputters then dies)at the rpm. I already dropped my pitch to a 13 and cant really go lower. (6000@wot) I figure it is just not made to idle that low and I need to find another way to shed .5 mph. Thanks
delcecchi
Isn't it time to throw out a drift sock, or a 5 gallon bucket tied to a rope if you are cheap like me? That will slow you down. Drift socks sometimes are adjustable. You can cut a hole in the bottom of the bucket or use a smaller bucket to adjust as well.
marine_man
I'd follow delecchi's advice to get you to the speed you're after. I know it's more stuff to throw around, but the 4 strokes from that era had a hard time running much slower than 800 for a long time... especially since they were carb'd.marine_man
