Garmin GPS Display too dim

I have a Garmon handheld GPS with the 2" display, it's about 7-8 years old and the display is so dim now that I can barely read it, even in the sunlight.

It's not the batteries, my power indicator for the batts. shows plenty of juice.

Anyone else have this problem or a possible fix short of buying a new one?

What model is it? I take it you have messed with the contrast, just press the power button again when it is on ( on some models ), some of the Etrex's had a setting where you could invert the background which made it difficult to see your track, my Vista did that until I found a display setting to tell it to use a land setting or something like that, I'll have to double check.

I misspoke on the contrast setting, I think I got my wires crossed with a old depthfinder I had. It's going to depend on which model you have.

I know my old eTrex Legend had a contrast setting on it, so that maybe it. Check that. If not, the screen maybe on it's way out.

To adjust the Contrast on a B&W Garmin unit, go to Main Menu and then Display options, from there you can adjust the contrast and brightness.

Or you may be able to shortcut to it by tapping the power button lightly and it may pop up too.
