Borch
Well this past weekend my wife Wanda, Harvey Lee and myself went up to Upper Red Lake to Portivilla Rentals for a weekend of fishing and fun! We got a late start as work responsibilities took longer than anticipated. We called Chris at Portivilla to let him know we were going to be coming in late and he told us to take our time and drive safe. We met up at Rogers resort and he took us out to our 6 person sleeper. When we pulled up it was already apparent that we were going to have plenty of space. It was a big house with an addition added on. Here’s a look of our house the next day in the light. We each grabbed an armload of gear and followed Chris into the fish house and our thoughts on space were confirmed. I think the first thing we noticed was the unique ceiling fan that helped circulate the heat. Chris gave us a quick tour of the house and it’s many features as well as what had been working to put walleyes on the line. He pointed us to the heated bathroom near our fish house. Here it is in the daylight. We got the business of unpacking gear and getting the rattle reels set up with favorite lures and bait. It took about 5 minutes to hook up with the first walleye. After a short late night fishing stint we called it a night and crawled into the most comfortable bunks I have every slept in. I was able to plug my C-PAP machine directly into 110 outlet hooked to a quiet Honda generator included in the fish house rental. There were plenty of these outlets for charging cell phones, flasher batteries and laptops. There were also several 12 volt plug ins as well. During the night we were woke up by the occasional ching, ching, ching… of rattle reels and caught a few more walleyes. There was a stove top, refrigerator and lots of cupboards in the kitchen as well as a sound system for those wanting a musical experience and an antennae for tv if you choose to bring one. There was a folding dinner table and plenty of comfortable folding chairs. Portavilla caters to the serious fisherman, family outing or those who would like a place to gather and let down their hair while wetting a line. Chris and his staff checked on us frequently to see that we were comfortable and share fishing information from other customers. He stays on the ice and is available in a moments notice if you need anything. This was the nicest house that I had ever rented and the level of customer service was at the highest level. For those who can get away during the week he has some great specials. We’ll definitely be back. harvey lee
Yes, this was one of the nicest if not the nicest house I have ever been to.I always hear the rattle reels at night and I slept so well for 3 nights I never heard one go off.If one needed to charge up their flasher, there were plug ins on the wall to charge the flasher up for the next days outing on the lake.I do not know what to say other than the customer service and equipment was nothing short of great.I believe the length of the house was 32ft. The house was very well kept and very clean. It was like fishing from ones living room in their house at home.If you ever want to get away and the wife would enjoy a weekend on the lake, Port-A-Villa can take care of all ones needs. Iambjm
So now I know where the 20" box fan went to. I have wanted to go there all winter, but haven't been able to connect with any friends. I might just have to go by myself next year.
Shack
Nice recap Borch! I have not used PortaVilla's services yet, but I have spoke to Chris on the phone a couple times. He is a very nice person and very knowledgeable when it comes to Upper Red Lake. He described how he runs his service and I was impressed. He does not just offer fish house rental, but a mobile community always on the move to find current action for his customers.

binsfeldnick
I stayed with them 2 times last year and had no complaints. The fishing was tuff (around but wouldn't bite) but we still managed a few fish and some good times. For the midweek price of these rentals you can't go wrong. scoutWBL
I spent a few days on URL with PortaVilla 2 seasons ago and had a great time. I would definitely recommend this trip. The service was great, and the restroom on the lake make it an nice option for everyone.
