Tranny problem, how big of a job?

Recommended Posts

My sons 2001 saturn sl2 has a hard shifting problem. A google search came up with I guess a very common problem in these with a pressure control sylenoid failure (4L60e pcs) can anyone give me a ballpark idea of what this will cost for parts and labor? He's A poor college student which means dear old dad will be helping foot the bill. Man, for all the guys out there who's kids are young enough yet enjoy the years...I thought they were tough at times but once the kids start driving it's a whole new level. Any help is appreciated.

is the engine light on? If it is there are places that will scan it free and that will give a better idea. My girlfriends 03 grand am, 2.2l, I changed the oil and didn't plug the sensor in on the MAF or whatever sensor is on the intake tube and it drove about 20 miles then shifted hard. My 04 Chev 2500hd does the same thing, I know it is my MAF, I have scanned it. It is weird but something to check.
