Santee Indian reservation (Nebraska)

Anybody have any information on hunting turkeys there? I was wondering what the procedure is for hunting there.

2 buddies and I hunted there last year and we all 3 got our birds... 2 really nice toms and a decent jake. We had to work our tails off for them though. The birds out there see a ton of pressure and are very educated. They are almost impossible to call in, but if you watch them, and sneak around on them, you can set an ambush up.

The great thing about Santee is that it's CHEAP. $50 will get you a tag, and if you want to spend $500 you could buy 10 tags if you wanted to. You buy tags from a bar in the town of Niobrara, which is just 5 or 6 miles west of the reservation. They'll give you a map of the areas you can hunt there. Thats also where you go to register any birds that you shoot.

Overall, its a fun place to hunt, and there are birds to be had, if you're willing to work for them.
