Also, let's assume that I don't remember where I put my receipt showing that I paid sales tax (which I did since it was bought new from a retail store).. What do I do?

I thought you bought that thing used off c list and that's why you don't have a receipt, remember. Of course you paid bottom dollar so if they wanted to charge you sales tax your out 7 bucks.

I didn't have my receipt either because "i bought it on c list for $100" and they just handed me the registration sticker.

You could also call up CS at where ever you got it and see if you can get a duplicate receipt.

Last time I went on the site there was a form for registering that you could print off. That way you will go to the DMV with the right info. Otherwise you might leave empty handed.

i had a canoe my uncle gave me, that he got free from the outward bound school he used to work at. it hadn't been registered in years and i told em i got it free... no sweat
