Frabil Recon DLX vs. Clam Kenai

I am in the market for a new, flip over style shack. Which is the better option? I believe they are the same price, or very similar. What do you think?

A very good roomy 1 man, and is equipped standard with 2 deluxe boat seats if needed. You can easily remove 1 seat as required, or add it.

Until Clam cleans up the poor stitching and micro holes that appear on the fabric even upon first use open new I cant recommend it. And I own 2, a portable and flip over. My buddy's old Frabil with burnt holes has nothing but burnt holes minus the micro holes upon years of abuse use.

The higher Clam models do appear to have better quality. See it for yourself. Go to your local sporting goods store if they still have Clams, Eskimo's, Frabils etc setup on the floor check it out. You will see what I mean about the Clams. I've been to Gander, Cabelas, Joes, Thorne Bros, Dick's Sporting goods and all the Clams have the same issue. Pay close inspection. The current Eskimo and Frabil's frabic is much better quality put together.

Look at the Clam Expedition thread a few threads down. The current run of Clams are pretty poor quality. I can't speak for the monster command-post shelters, but the smaller ones have junk insulation-coating that wears off very fast, and the stitching is .. really bad.

Look to Frabill, currently. Heck, even the HTs have better coating than the Clams, at the moment (my boys have their own HT Instashack).

I would look for a new but last years model scout. Probably will be hard to find. I dont care for the kenai sat in one at the store. They really went cheap on the one man shacks. Recon is ok but think the commando is much better quality.If you want it to last you might want to go with next step up like Ed mentioned.
