Ole1855
I'm headed to Jesse lake near Talmoon in Itasca cty. to fish the Wed. after opener thru Sun. I was wondering if anyone out there can give me some pointers on the lake? I'm after Walleyes mainly, but I wouldn't mind a few Crappies either. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.Ole
red bricks
I fished it once last year. I got blanked but it looks like a lake should produce. If they aren't biting Bowstring and Winnie are not far away.
Ole1855
What time of the year did you fish it? I have also thought about going to Cutfoot or Bowstring if we aren't doing well on Jesse. Thanks for the reply.
Guest
ole1855, I fish Jesse quite regularly very good lake. I would stick with a jig and minnow(shiner) .Start in that 7-9 foot where there is a nice shelf of shallow water before it goes to the drop. There is alot of big shoreline points and underwater ones too.It should produce well for you.Good luck and if you have anymore questions e-mail me.Jason------------------fishing fever guide servicefishingminnesota.com/fishingfever/phone 218-327-2191e-mail boser@grandrapidsmn.com
weekendjunkie
OLE , Although jessie is mainly a lake that produces its best action after the opening and second wknd, i have fished it many times for the opener. work the weed breaks on the se end of the lake. start at the access and work your way round the shore till you pass pool's creek .. then hop to the other side and work from the first cabin past the resort to the point. if that doesn't produce hed for the north and east sid e of the lake starting at three cedars resort work your way up the shore. no sense in getting in over 10' of water cause they just arnt gonna be out there. email me and ill give ya somemore on what i do out there. the Junkie>>stumpjumper2971@usa.com
Pannyraid
Weekendjunkie,I will be fishing Jessie Lake during the first week of August and it sounds like you are fairly familiar with the lake. I have never fished this lake and don't know all that much about it. What I do know is that, according to the DNR survey, the lake has a decent Walleye population. What have your experiences been on this lake? Any size to these walleyes? Any other fish worth targeting in the lake? What areas of the lake should I focus on this time of year? What techniques have worked the best for you? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!
