Garmin Colorado

traveler

Question

In another thread on HH GPS units, it sounds like Garmin is a good way to go. I see the Colorado unit on closeout a couple places....Anyone have one?is it being replaced by the Dakota and Oregon? How is that thumbwheel for screen navigation?

I don't have and never used a Colorado, but all that I have read is that the units are very similar. I have the Oregon 200 and I love it. The Colorado maybe a tiny bit more accurate, but not enough to worry about. The user interface is the huge difference, with the Oregon being so much better. All the sites that I have read comparing the two have said this. It does seem like Garmin is phasing these out and going forward with the Oregon and Dakota series. It has been a few months since a firmware update has been issued. But still, the main difference between the Colorado and Oregon series is the touch screen. Do a web search comparing the two and make a decision based on that.

That ColoradoCI looks like a nice unit for the fisherman around here. My only issue with Garmin is they dont work with my Navionics and Lakemaster chips that I use in my Lowrance and Humminbird graphs on my boat. Thats just more chips to buy.
