I own a Lowrance M68c. This is my second season using it. When I am fishing solo with this unit it is remarkable. My only issue, while solo fishing is that I cannot add more detailed maps on the GPS. Apparently what you get is what you'll have according to Lowrance for maps on this particular unit. I can live with it, apparenlty the sales person didn't know this when I told him that I plan on geting the lake chip for it soon.
Anyway, my concerns with it come into play when my buddy joins me and drops his Marcom transducer in the water. All hell breaks loose. My depth goes from stable to bouncing all over the place. I start picking up all sorts of random hits. I know that mine affects his a little, but he is able to rid the interference with a quick adjustment. The Lowrance on the other hand does not seem to be able to filter other units or at least a Marom. If he shuts his off after mine went nuts it does not clear up until I remove the transducer from the water and put it back in. This is frustrating! I have not used mine next to any other unit. I was given a few tips like lowering or raising my transducer some while tweaking the ping speed. I have of course already attempted using the noise rejection settings but at max the unit is still unusable.
I hoping that someone may have the same unit with similar issues or with another Lowrance unit that acts the same. Your input would be greatly appreciated.

Dang, new content and now answers.
First, congrats on the new boat!
My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V. 80 might be tops? I’m partial to MinnKota.
How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.
All weather or just nice weather?
Casting a lot or bait dragging?
Bobber or panfish fishing?
Spot lock? Networked with depth finders? What brand of depth finders?
We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha
motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor, wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will
want for this boat? Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke
Mariner motor) I will appreciate any help with these questions.
I went ahead and watched some of the MLF coverage. Wheeler didn’t make the cut but the bigger story was the Poche/Avera fallout.
Kinda funny listening to both sides of the story and putting together the scenario, reading between the lines.
