LX-5 transducer issue.

Stradic

Question

Hole hopping the other day and my transducer quit working. It doesn't make a sound when I place my ear up to it. I have tried unplugging/plugging it back in, checked for snow/ice on it. The only thing I can do is if I juggle it or play with the cable, it might come on for a split second but then nothing. The flasher is spinning and the battery is fully charged. Has anybody had this type of problem? Is it defective? I searched on here for additional links pertaining to this problem and found nothing.

Thanks

What side of the cable do you have to jiggle to get it to work? If it is on the side of the transducer I would give up and just by a transducer. As stated above, you have a short or a broken wire. Now if you have to jiggle on the unit's side I would be a bit more cautious on telling you what the issue could be. It could still easily be the cable. It could be the connector on the unit itself. You may be able to tell just by seeing if their is any extra play where you plug in your transducer. If this is the case I would send it in. If you feel crazy you may be able to open the unit and find the short or broken wire and fix it. I have never attempted this and I am sure that all warranty's will be null and void once you turn one of those screws more than half way off. Good luck!
