No More Johnson?

lawman

Question

I feel like I fell asleep and woke up a bunch of years later. I went on line to check out the latest in Johnson outboards on Bombardier HSOforum. The message posted by the company indicates they are no longer making new Johnsons and are contemplating new uses for the brand name. What the?

Suzuki 4 stroke..... Got rid of a longtime headache in that last outboard which was an Evinrude (same thing as a Johnson?) and I love the gas milage, quiet running, and performance of my Suzi! Why did I wait soooo loong? 60HP on a 16ft Dominator, we fly and troll down real nice, are you shopping or just waking up? I come from a family of Merc owners, and I pass them like they are standing still, plus they have to stop for gas and change plugs more often.

Superduty,

I will be looking at the new Yamaha SHO at the Sports show and see if I can hang that on the back of my Triton. All the advantages of the 2 stroke plus the items you mentioned so we will see what the Yammi boys have to say.

Johnson made a 4 stroke for years. It was basically a Suzuki 4 stroke except for the fuel line. I have owned a 'Zuki 4stk 115hp for 10 years. Best motor around but was just doing a little market research before I look for a new rig. I guess I will stick with the brand I have had. Its just that if you ever need service, which is rare, it can be a bit of a challenge to find a shop that will work on new, like 1 or two yr. old Suzukis.
