Chad Luebker
Hello -I have a 2007 sportsman 500 EFI which I just brought in for the 50 hour checkup about a month ago. A month later and only putting 20 miles on the machine(now has 275 miles total) and the engine coolant was almost empty. There was about a 1/2 inch left in the engine coolant box. Has anyone had this happen or is this common? I called a Polaris dealer and they said just keep an eye on it. Didn't seem like a big deal but concerns me a little. I assume it's not a leak because I would have some evidence on the garage floor. Thoughts/ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.Cha
Hafnutz
Check the hose clamp on the front of the engine. They have been known to loosen and cause a drip. You can get at it from the right side. Also keep an eye on the water pump. The coolant reservoir is located too low and if you go through any muddy water the dirt will get into the cooling system through the cap on the reservoir and cause the water pump to go out. You can either make a snorkel for the cap or buy a late model cap which has a snorkel on it.
