Help w/ Marcum Lx3 gain

Pary

Question

For some reason I have to turn my gain up really high to about 5 or 6 just to see my sinker and bait. Anybody else having this issue? Is my ducer bad? I've seen vexilars working fine and seeing fine with the gain just a little above 3. Any ideas?

Well no kinks in the line. What do you mean by small chip in the unit itself? How would i check that? Thinking about picking up another ducer if i can't fix the problem. Everything else works fine except for the gain.

Wow!! didn't know those ducers cost that much.... Just need a ducer to try out to see if it's the problem w/ my Marcum. Can n e body recommend a good place I can pick one up at for a good deal? Thanks.

Go to where guys ice fish.

1.Trade ducers with a marcum guy for a few minutes. See if the problem moves to his marcum and cures yours'.

2. Make sure your ice hole has no bits of ice clinging to the sides, making for poor readings. I push my scoop down a few times in the hole to make sure there's no chunks of ice in the hole.

I had similar problems with my LX-3tc and have heard of many other similar stories from others on the forum. I think your best bet it to get it serviced from Marcum. They did mine, ended up replacing the ducer and doing some fixing in the head unit.

At the time, Marcum was an independent company and were pretty liberal about just fixing it no questions asked. I know when Nature Vision bought them they charged I think a flat rate of like $70 to fix your Marcum. Now that another company owns them not sure how things work. I woulds start by going to their HSOforum and calling their tech support. It can be faster if you can drop it off at their service shop - They turned mine around within a couple days. Use to be in Anoka, not sure if they moved it.

Good luck!
