Registration for Grandma's Marathon is open. The marathon is June 19th. Is anyone running it this year?

Registration for the half marathon is now open. Registration will be conducted through a random lottery process. Those interested in participating can register for the lottery through 8:00 a.m. on Monday, March 1, 2010.

After having spent the Friday Grandma's start in the canal area for a kayaking class, never again will I go anywhere near Duluth the weekend of Grandma's. Simply too crazy and packed for my tastes.

You definitely want to stay away from the canal area on Friday and Saturday of that weekend. Those are not the days to check out the lift bridge, or schedule a kayaking class! The rest of the city is actually pretty normal except along the course on Saturday.

Just a reminder, Grandmas Marathon is this Saturday, June 19th. For those travelling north on 35W through Duluth on Friday afternoon or Saturday morning, you should expect long delays or look for alternate travel routes. Also, Canal Park gets extremely busy on those days too.
