Good 20 gauge load?

My daughter has a Super Bantam Mossberg 500 20 gauge pump. I put a Sims Vibration Labs recoil pad on it. It came with a XF turkey choke when I bought it. I need some help on picking a good shell for this gun. More than likely we'll be sitting in a ground blind and hoping for shots with in 30 yds. Let's hear 'em!

Thanks,

Brian

Brian,

There are some good loads out there now for 20 turkey guns. My daughter has two load/choke combo that shoot great in her 870 youth. Thing is every gun is different. So what might be good in her gun may not work in your daughter's gun. That said here's a few.

Federal Cartridge 3" #6 1 5/16 oz Turkey/Hasting turkey choke

Hevishott Hevi 13 3"/Primos Tight Wad

Winchester

Rem hevishott(discontinued)/Primos Tight wad

The Federal Lead loads are great out to 35 yards

Both the Hevishot loads shot great out to 45 yards.

Not bad for a little 20 guage. wink

Hevi shot works great through that gun although my son shoots a full choke as i belive the 20 gauge full is tighter than a 12 full. 6 shot as well. I wont shoot anything but hevi shot #6's for turkeys. It wouldnt hurt to try and pattern a couple of brands it is good practice for the kid as well.
