I have a few quistions for anybody that may be using a newer eskimo quantum ice auger, I have an Eskimo Barricuda that is about 10yrs old or so, anyway i have trouble with the blades holding an edge, usually end up putting at least one set on a yr. depending on how much i use it, my quistion is how do the newer ones cut- how long do the blades last- do they freeze up bad?, i have found a new auger bit for it and wondering if this would be the right road to take? any help or suggetions would be great

Hello and welcome! I run a 4 yo Stingray which has the quantum blades..never had a problem. I touch my blades up about every other outing with a 4" hard Arkansas stone and honing oil..you can leave them right on the unit to do this. They're still razor sharp. My advice is to keep them oiled when not in use to prevent any rust. I always wipe them down after every time out, then rub a little oil on them. To keep them from freezing up, I hit full throttle for a second or two after drilling the hole..this will fling any water off. Treat them as you would any good blade, and you shouldn't have a problem.Hope this helps!
