2-3 day fishing trip

Recommended Posts

Was thinking of taking a 2-3 day trip ice fishing/camping on ice trip. Never done it before, but really want to try some remote lakes and was wondering if anybody on here has done it before. What type of gear to bring, areas to consider? Any tips would be great. Also would like to hear about some of your adventures.

I read an article yesterday in the current Minnesota conservation magazine about winter camping with a canvas tent with small woodstove. That really sounded like the way to go to me. None of this sleeping in a snowbank for me! The magazine might be online. A new out fitter in Two Harbors rents the equipment necessary. The outfitter is the Canoeist in Two Harbors. Sounds like fun. Hope you have a good time.

if you can fit it onto your sleds, bring some of that 2" thick pink styrofoam, either larg enough to set your tent up on, or even just big enough to sleep on. it makes everything twice as warm and its very light weight, it just takes up some room, i'v used it when i go with my pick up, sounds like your goin off the road. just thought i'd mention it, it really makes a diffrence. sounds like fun, good luck.

Looks like you'll be going to the boundary waters for some lake trout...that is if your willing to hike and drill with a hand auger. I guess my only advice would be to bring lot's of hand, foot, and even torso warmers. If your in the middle of nowhere, they can really come in handy if needed.
