A Bird Hunter Tips His Hat to Trappers

Recommended Posts

As an avid bird hunter and ignorant to most trap sets thanks for all the information needed to get my dogs out of these traps. Have seen only one in my time in the woods. It was obviously set for beavers and well after most grouse hunters were out of the woods.

It's a testament to a groups way of life when many hunting communities are deeply infected with the more me now disease. The concern for peoples dogs seems obvious and evident. The only thing I've ever trapped is gophers, mice and chipmunks. The last of which I hate with a passion.

My hats off to the trappers for all the information. It's been much appreciated.

Bass,

The only thing worse then having your dog caught in a trap is being the trapper who got it. Sure, there are some lazy slobs out there who don't care and set traps right by the end of driveways and such, but a law is coming to change that.

Just like any sport, a few screw-ups will ruin it for the rest of us if we aren't careful.

The only dogs I ever gotten were in mink traps and they are pretty small traps and the dogs don't fight them. Toss a sandwhich to them to soften them up the next thing you know they are cuddling in your lap.

I know a ton of trappers and not one of them would turn away if you stopped them in the woods and asked them any question you want. We are all in this together.

Michael
