Jiffy gets stuck on bottom of Ice

I have an older Jiffy model 30. Starts on the second pull and cuts like a champ, but gets stuck on the bottom of the ice. I have tried two different styles of blades, and apply little to no pressure when I am almost through, and it still happens. Takes about 3 goes at it before i break through. Any suggestions?

that's the way it goes with them. Same thing happens when you are drilling thru metal with a hand drill. If you know how to finish it out now then what the heck, a few more seconds. Beats using a spud bar

My Jiffy was made in 1991. Never had this happen. Full throttle all the way through.

Your Jiffy catches because the blades are cutting to agressively, you will have to bend the plate on the bottom of your auger across from the blades down just a little so that the blades are not cutting quite as much. I have had this problem but once you bend this plate it will cut right thru without grabbing.

My buddies two year old lazer does this also. I told him he needed to dull the blades. Could be the pitch as was also stated. At any rate, it should get better as they dull.

I had the same problem and found that the blade was bent down slightly. Straightened it and it was much better.
