mille lac when is the best fishing ?

Plan on taking the kids on a four day trip this year and was wondering what everyone says late january or early march ? last year we went to leech lake in early march and it was a awesome trip !! my daughter is 8 and my son is 10 so perch are the fish they like best with walleyes at nite as we spend time in the fish house.we already picked out a place to rent a sleeper just trying to decide when to come ?

Well just remember the sleeper houses come off Mille Lacs at the end of February, so a early March sleeper would be out of the question. So basically anytime this month or next, I dont think the bite changes much once midwinter and thick ice sets in. It can get slow for the eyes in midwinter. The perch seem to become more active in late Feb, so maybe try then.

I wish mine went more often, but school is important too!
