Question about scoring fish for league

This will be our first year for winter fishing league. I was just wondering if anyone in in a winter league and about how to make it fair when scoring multiple species of fish. What we have so far is 1 point per legal fish measured plus one point per inch over the minimum (example a 15 inch walleye will be 1 point to legal fish, plus 2 points for fish over the minimum for 3 points total. So I was just wondering how to score for example a northern compared to a crappie. What we have come up with so far is each inch for a panfish will be two points, walleye will be one point per inch and northers are half inch. Does anyone have any suggestions? Or does this seem pretty fair?

With your scoring system, bigger is better. May I suggest a system where certain sized fish of certain species score the greatest, and each inch, or half-inch away from that desired length is a deduction.

Example: A 23" or less northern scores 10 points, every inch bigger than 23" is a deduction of a point.

Or

A 7 inch sunny scores 5 points, and every half-inch over or under is a 1 point deduction.
