Apprentice license turkey hunt?

It says that the apprentice hunter validation runs from March first to the following feburuary. My question is, how would a apprentice apply for a spring turkey hunt if the validation starts in March? The way I'm reading it sounds like if an apprentice bought it today, it would expire in Feb. Hopefully thats just not explained very well. Wondering if anyone knew about that, or knew someone who did it previously. I'm pretty sure it just does'nt go into detail, but I'd like to know for sure before I give bad advice. This is from the DNR HSOforum.

To me it looks quite clear in the DNR regulations. The way you're reading it is correct. Buy an apprentice license today and it expires in a couple months.

But, also keep in mind that hunters age 17 and under can purchase their tag over the counter this spring. They don't need to apply in the lottery.

LEP is right. Any youth that tries to apply through the regular drawing will be kicked out by the system. They can purchase their tag over the counter for any one season.

If the youth is young enough that you want to be right with them (and you leave your weapon at home) they don't even need the apprentice license.

Actually it's a twenty two year old female. She's thinking about getting her firearms to do some bird hunting, but wants to try it first. Seems thats part of the reason for an apprentice. Kinda seems like they won't be able to apply for the spring hunt if they are older.
