Size of fish hole affects flasher inteference?

Since my ice auger only drills 8inch holes last ice season fishing along my buddy we used his new 10inch auger.

Maybe it's just me but when I drop my Marcum's be it the VX1 or LX3tc into my 8inch hole versus the 10inch hole I tend to notice more interference on screen. Even if I adjust it.

So it seems that the larger 10inch holes cut allowed the Marcums to have less interference or almost none. At first I thought maybe it was just a coincidence but I cut a few holes side by side and sure enough the smaller holes had more interference showing up on my screen. Either that of I am just very confused.

I have always noticed some interference with the ice if your not below the ice. It only shows up on the top one foot or so of your read out. I have always been able to deal with it. It seems like new ice is less likely to affect it then late season thick old ice.

Good Luck fishing
