Planning rides for 2010

Now that the bikes are put away for the next few months, I'm sitting here pondering the thought of where I'd like to ride in 2010.

I tossed around the idea of doing the Superior Loop. Although I didn't have a bike until this summer, it's something that's crossed my mind several times.

Has anyone here taken the trip around Lake Superior? If so, how was it? Any pics?

We are thinking of that as well. now would be a good time to get the passport taken care of. You will also need a helmet.

Other rides we are looking at is from here to St Louis for a week then on to Vegas for a few days and back to here. That is a LOT of butt time though!

Funny thing, there was a deep rumble coming from my garage this week as well. Take care and N Joy the Ride././Jimbo

Besides the normal around MN rides I will take, I am heading down to KC and then possibly up to PA this summer. Should be good, infact heading to the dealer today to get some new nars and cables for the Roadking!!!

We have a trip planned for IL in June. Hope we have nice weather by then... the third week I think it is. I also want to ride to Vegas for the 2nd weekend in June. There is a reunion of a bunch of us retired Air Force folks that were stationed at Mt Vergine Italy. THAT would be a hoot! It was a small mountain top site and we were all like family there. Some really great times and very special people were there with us. Hope to be able to do both of them! Take care and N Joy the Ride././Jimbo

PA, OH, WV then back to NY. i have never done anything like that and by myself at that. Best thing i have ever done. I am planning another trip this summer. IN, Ky and NC is what i have come up with so far. Can't wait.

LEP- The superior loop is a fantastic motorcycle trip. I took the trip about 2.5 years ago with my dad. We did it in 3 days but I would suggest going 4 or 5 to really enjoy everything it has to offer. There is some beautiful scenery around North Superior. Roads were fairly decent. All the locals we ran into were real friendly. Certain parts of Canada can be lacking in amenities, especially those stretches that are not close to the lake. You just have to watch your map and gas gauge. I didn't fill up when I supposed to and ended up coasting into a gas station on reserve. I'm thinking about taking this trip one last time this spring before I sell my bike.

As long as there's no more than 200 miles between stations, I should be ok.

The Mrs wants to ride, but not the entire distance. So she plans on driving the "support vehicle" carrying luggage and the sort. But then again, she's interviewing for a new job this week and might not have the vacation time built up by then.

Paula, welcome to FM! Sounds like a couple of nice trips. My wife and I want to get out there to do some riding as well. There is so much history out there! Many many places to go and see. Hope that your trip this summer is every bit as good as the one last summer! If you ever get over this-a-way the trip around superior is a fantastic ride as well and we only got as far as Grand Portage MN. Take care and N Joy the Ride././Jimbo

No idea really where we'd jump on. Prolly somewhere in Illinois, maybe, kinda, dunno.

The thing we're really tossing around aboot this adventure is we don't want to set a schedule. Whatever happens is whatever happens. If we like a thing, we stick around and check out the thing. If we're not digging the thing, we bail and check out the next thing.
