CodyDawg
it is pure physics, and you cant argue with it. Lead retains more energy thus will perform better on roosters.
WalleyesWest
Lead all the way!! BUT Steel has come a long ways from 10+ years ago. Here's my approach I shoot #2 steel at everything that requires steel shot ducks, GEESE, phesants, sharptail..... Why? because thats what I have found to work out of my perticular gun and choke combination. I personal think an aftermarket choke tube is the way two go, I use a patternmaster mid range. The next best is black cloud that stuff seem to do the trick. I have shot 300+ geese in the last 5years my self all with #2 steel and usually Federal Premums. These a not your normal 5-7 pound geese we get the big graters up here 9-11+ pound average. My point is grab some paper and go shot your shot gun and not just at 30 yards move back to 50 or even 60 and you will see the diferent patterns alot easyer. Get 3or 4 differt brands and sizes and just shoot! A person will be suprized in the differences! My 2 cents
goblueM
i dont think anybody is arguing the physics of lead vs steelpersonally i like steel because it patterns well out of my gun (rounder = truer flight, something to keep in mind since steel is usually more uniform roundness)like walleyeswest said go pattern your gun and practice, regardless of the type of shot you prefer
Ely Lake Expert
with the prices of a box of 4-5 shot lead being 12-15 bucks does lead seriously cost that much now? wow. I'm glad I bought a stockpile for 2.99 a box
