Lightest 2 man portable?

A buddy of mine picked one up last week at fleet farm. We too were impressed with the weight. Got it all put together and seems like a pretty sweet rig. Neither of us have used a flip over before (we use hub style and suitcase style previous). The seats seemed pretty comfy and looks like there will be plenty of room for two holes each, heater, vexes, and extra gear. I think if it were mine I would add the hyfax runner kit to protect the underside and we also put a heavier duty rope on it.

I picked up a Trecker before the season too. Only used it once so I can't tell you too much. I do like how light it is compared to other portables. I can load all of my equpiment and get it in and out of my pickup by myself no problem. Fished out of it Saturday and didn't even need a heater, then again it was "nice" compared to what we've seen lately.

I have a Trekker II, last years model and It's a nice flip over for the price ($299 last year). I'd actually like the new Trekker Deluxe due to it's better fabric and seats. I think it's only about 9 pounds heavier. Better deal for an additional $50 if you ask me. You have to get it at GM as it's a special unit made just for them from what I hear.

I bought this house last year on a closeout end of the season. I only used it about 3 times last year tons more room than my shappell suit case style. It's black spacious and simple. The chairs need some cushions because they aren't the deluxe seats, but that's the only difference than the new trekker deluxe at gander. I personally didn't notice too much difference on the material other than the color scheme. That's my 2 sense

I have one and use it as a one man. It will fish two people, but I wanted something lightweight and roomy for myself. I took the padding off one of the seat frames and made a table/rod holder/minnow bucket holder. Just something to think about if you're planning on using it as a one man. I also agree, get the DLX version if you can, the seats alone are worth it.

I just bought a Trekker yesterday, found them on sale for 279. Got it almost put together last night. Most reviews I've read on them are very positive. I'm planning on using it mainly as a large 1 man, occasionally 2. I looked at the Commando also, but didn't care for the way everything in the sled is behind you. Plus it would be kind of crowded in front. Not very convenient for a fat old guy.

If you are open to hub/pop-up style portables, Eskimo Quickfish II is only 18lbs, and the III is 25lbs. Doesn't get much lighter than that.

I would agree, we use the quick fish and it is great! I throw it on my back with the shoulder straps and out I go. I have to say it's unbelievably convenient. There are 2 down falls to it - wind and putting it back in the carrying bag when it's 0 degrees - great house if you are looking to travel light and set up quick. It goes up in literally 6 seconds.

The only thing to note when going with a lighter portable....is that the material is what they make lighter....and on a super windy day...the lighter ones will sound like a trash bag popping in the wind...and that is annoying. But for the money, it is hard to beat what you got for a 2-man!

Welcome to the land of Flip Overs!!!! Once you go Flip...you will NEVER want to pack a suitcase again! wink

Bought the Trekker II last year as well. Got it at Sportsmen's Wharehouse in Fargo for like $269.00 I believe. No complaints here. Nice house, I like the fact that it's light and i can get it in and out of my Jeep Charokee by myself and it fits nice back there w/ the seats down. My only wish is that it had the heavier duty poles vs. the lighter gauged ones that come with it. For what I paid though, no complaints.

I would definitely have to agree with you on that one! 4 years ago I picked up a clam pop-up. I never really like the floor, hole configuration, where do you sit, where do you put the heater? There's no sled, how many trips back and forth do you need to take? I only ever fished one person in it because I felt I never had room for anyone other than myself.

This year I'm borrowing a fishtrap voyager and I love it! I'm using it until I can get the perm out. I just wish I could catch a fish or two!

I did catch one today (been out 3 times now). It was a perch the size of a shiner minnow

Have a Trekker 2 I bought 2 years ago and overall it works great.

Only drawback I see with it is the chairs. They are more then

half the weight of the entire setup. Take away those chairs and

I`ll bet its around 40lb.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
