Shappell DX300 Windows Shatter in the cold?

I've had this portable for 3 years now. I take really good care of it. Last year while fishing in the DL area, it got really cold towards sundown. I began to put stuff away and fold up the house. I couldnt believe it, the plastic windows began to crack/break. I fixed em up with some tape which works. However, yesterday, unfolded the house and began to put it together, and it happened again, this time it was dang near a total loss. Question, what to do, I know I'll get responses telling me to get a different one and everybody's favorite. I'm interested in salvaging this one, its in perfect shape besides the windows.

Anybody know of this happening to others, how to fix. Thanks.

Now that you mentioned this towards the end of last year I saw a Guy that had real Acrylic or Plexiglass in his after the same problems. He had predrilled the edge of plexi and had aluminum or wood frame on the inside to screw the plexi to. He just used silicone and something that looked like insuation foam tape 1 inch wide. As far as I could see he folded it up with no problem at all.

I too, have a Shappell. Been lucky so far. I think the contant UV rays degrade the plastic. Anyway, the new Shappell have removable windows..I guess I would give them a call and order some of those...they attach with Velcro srips which you can buy and glue in place with silicone cement. (I did this on the flip up hole covers to keep them stuck to the side of shack)I've ordered parts from them before, and they were quite helpful and prompt. I know it's too late for you now, but I keep my shack about 60 degrees, especially right before tear-down. I think that also helps keep the windows a little more pliable. Hope this helps!
