My lap top keeps shuting down.Does any body have any ideas what could be wrong with it? I think it might be getting too hot. My brother law just cleaned everything up on itso it is free from bugs. Could a bad battery or battery that is going do that?

Does it do it when it is on? If it is heat, you will feel it get hot on the bottom.

yes it does when it is on. seems hot so is the fan going bad or is it the battery?

Doese it shut down while you are plugged in or just when using that battery? You should have a power indicator for the batery level down by the clock. if not you can go into the control pannel and set your power options.

Do you feel air blowing or hear the fan engage?

If your laptop is getting so hot it shuts down odds are if you are not under waranty it is a better option to replace with new then dump money into.

Almost 100% sure it's a problem with your fan. A VERY cheap and easy fix if it turns out that's the problem.
