Snow blower won't start

Huskie

Question

I have a 2006 Tr0y bilt snowblower 2885 or so, that wouldn't start for me when I needed it to(first start of the year). The electric start fired the first time, but the blower didn't, after that when I push the start button, the starter just spins, like it doesn't engage anything on the engine. I tried to manually pull start it, no go. I replaced the sparkplug, added more gas and some stabilizer. What do I do next? I might bring it into the house overnight, in case it is a "too cold to go" issue, but that's what it's for!!!! Any ideas before I bring it in to a shop, thanks.

Try this:

pull the spark plug, check for spark, if you have good spark, dump gas in spark plug hole, put plug back in, set choke to full, set throttle to wide open, pull rope until it fires and runs,

that's how I got mine going today after it sat for a year,

Your starter might have issues as well

Did you run the gas out at the end of last season? If not, the gas has broken down and gummed up the fuel passages in the carburetor. Check for Spark. If it has plenty of spark, your carburetor is most likely to blame, and should be completely disassembled, cleaned (thoroughly with a quality carb cleaner and compressed air), then reassemble with a factory carb rebuild kit.

Obviously, this would have nothing to do with the electric starter motor. Yes, you could try tapping LIGHTLY to see if it frees up, or you may need to remove it from the engine and lubricate the bendix. Just unplug it first.
