Warn winch on a Sportsmen 500

Whopper Stopper

Recommended Posts

My winch seems to be lagging in power. I don't hardly ever use it but the other day I was trying it and I doubt it would pull a cork out of a bottle. If my battery wasn't 100% could this be the culprit? Basically what happens is I hook up to something solid, and hit the button. It starts winding in cable but when the load starts to offer resistance it just slows down and stops. No clicking or any other sounds.

Thanks! I figured you guys would know.

I wouldn't say it turns over any to fast, but it does pop off after just a couple of spins. It sits out in a shed and there are times it will sit for a week or two without being run. I have never used a trickle on it and I am thinging the battery is 3-4 years old.
