mr_jman
I've got my 8" Mag Express and it took what felt like several minutes to get through 4" of ice. The blades look to be in good shape and very sharp, but it isn't cutting worth a c... I was putting my weight into it and it still barely moved. Also had problems getting through the bottom of the hole. Everything I've read is this auger is suppose to cut very very fast! My guess is blade pitch probably. Can I set this myself or do I need to take it somewhere to get it done properly?
NCLaker
I would also guess your blade is out if pitch. I bought a demo Lazer Mag - it was cutting the opposite, too aggresively. D-Rock did the adjustment under warrenty. lazer augers are very sensative to blade pitch being just right. So I am always careful gently setting the auger bit on the ice when drilling.I don't recommend setting it yourself. If you a call strikemaster, they can tell you where an autherized service shop is close to you. They use a special jig to adjust the blades to the proper pitch. Or if you want to drive it up to their headquarters in Big Lake, they will likely do it for no charge.
PierBridge
Good Info!!Love the D'Rock guys they re-pitched my Jiffy a few years back. It's just a little alignment tool and some bending.I wouldn't recommend leaning on the auger either of course banging the auger blades on the Ice is worse and a big no-no. mr_jman
Can you tell me who or where D-Rock is? If its any closer than headquarters for me I could take it there. I emailed Strikemaster so hopefully I'll hear back from them if there is anywhere closer to get it fixed.
