tjbassmaster
I am relatively new to tip up fishing and can't figure out what size hooks to use. I will be fishing for mainly walleyes and the occasional northern. Does anyone have any suggestion on what size hooks will work best for these species? MN Angler
I really like using # 2 Gamakatsu hooks in any fluorescent color. Chartreuse is the color I have done the best on. This is what I use when I'm targeting primarily walleyes. If I am mainly targeting northerns I usually use red trebels with either a bead or spinner. I use a florocarbon leader on each setup. Steve Foss
I like size 6 a lot for walleyes and a 1/0 treble for pike.
EJ
For walleyes it depends on the type or size of bait I am putting on. Fathead size minnows and small shiners get a #6 and larger baits get #4. Very rarely I will use a #2 if targeting big fish with very large baits.
