Oriole hanging around

I've had a male Oriole hanging around my suet feeder for the last week and a half. He'll sit there for a long time pecking at the suet. I have a feeling his end time is near, he was on the ground huddled against the tree during the storm yesterday. I'm guessing he should be enjoying some tropical weather by now? Pretty bird but a sad sight. Not much a guy can do but let nature take its course. frown

That's an excellent thing to behold this late in the season. I'm sure you will do your best to make it as comfortable as possible during this time. I'm sure you probably already have or it would not have chosen your backyard, well done.

Wow! That would be a sight against the white snow. Is he still coming? I kept watching my catbird and hoping he would take off before the snowstorm. I saw him for the last time on the morning of the eighth, but his feathers were pretty ragged, and I'm afraid since the storm was far worse south of us, he was really going right into it. After the storm I hosted a red-winged blackbird. I thought about all the photogs here who post their rwbb photos as a first sign of spring. Do you suppose it is just around the corner? I'm afraid she got taken by a sharp-shinned, though. Right outside my window. I could only see the tail, but she hasn't returned since. Take care of your little friend the best you can!
