trro0901
I have been looking into adding to my electronics for ice fishing. I have looked at a few underwater cameras, but I'm not sure what one to get. I have found a few online sites that have cameras that you can't find in stores around the area. I'm interested in knowing if anyone has heard of the Nautilus Panning Underwater Camera System by Navroute. It appears to be more orientated for salt water useage, but the web site says they work fine for ice fishing. Is there a specific camera that is better in dirty water? Thanks for any input. harvey lee
Camera viewing in dirty or stained water is very limited.I am not familiar with the camera you mentioned but I can help you with the MarCum line. These are some of the nicest underwater camera's around. The VS380 is the lower end model but when it comes to the quality of the Sony camera and how it is built, nothing short of a very good camera. Also in the MarCum line is the 800 & 825C which is the color camera. Both the 800 & 825C are LCD screens.Fishing Minnesota does offer these cameras in the Outdoor Pro Store.
Eric Wettschreck
I would say be very careful buying an unknown camera. I know of more than one person that has bought one over the internet or a real low grade/price one at a big box store, just to be disappointed in how poorly they work.I've never heard of the system you're talking about. This doesn't mean it isn't any good, just that I haven't heard of it.If you were to stick your head in the water, as far as you can see is aboot as far as you can see with a good camera. If the water is dirty, stained, or not a light penetration you're visability is going to suffer. As stated, I have no idea about the camera system you're talking about. I'll take my Marcum VS 380 anyday. Good unit at a good price.
