what size circle hooks for pike

hello wondering what sizes for pike for sucker fishing i use circle hooks all the time with good sucess i usually use 1/0 to 2/0 hooks are these a little big i use sucker minnows and was told smaller hooks catch the meat in there mouth better any advise on this i dont use quick strike rigs there a pain i think and cause a tangled mess i havent had any deep hooked ones yet and usually get them in the lip 99% of the time thank you

I would stike with the smallest hook that will still allow you to hook the minnow efficiently. I have had the best luck with circle hooks in the medium size range for just about all MN species, they seem to hook the fish in the corner of the jaw at the highest rate...still gotta try them ice fishing though
