New rifle scope for .30-06?

Recommended Posts

I want to buy a new scope for my father in laws .30-06. He has a simmons scope that he bought about 10 years ago. he has had nothing but problem hitting a deer with this gun. It is not him as he kills everything he shoots at with his .30-30. So I am looking at the nikon Buckmaster, and Leopld vx-1. It is going on a Remington 760 woodsmaster

Both of your choices make great quality optics and I have owned both brands but if I were to buy again my first choice would be Leupold. To me it just seemed like I was able to put the crosshairs on the deer a lot quicker. They both had great light gathering capabilities which is huge the first and last half of hour of shooting time.

I own a few Leupolds and they are a very good scope. On a couple of my guns I have put on the Bushnell Elite 4200 scopes and they have done well for me on to of the guns.

Very happy with them for the money spent. The big name scopes like Leupold and Swaroski are great but they do cost a few more clams.

How are the bushnell elites? Compared to the two I mentioned. I also have a cheap Bushnell banner on my .30-30. And it is no where as clear as the other two. But for the money I spent it is one realiable scope. Are the elites as good as Leopold vx-1s?
