chumley
I'm heading out to the Webster SD area this weekend for 3 days and am looking for advice on that area or other areas to try. This is my first time out to that area. Any help would be appreciated.

tmvikings
All the maps you will ever need are on the south dakota dnr site, go their and print the area's off that you will be in. There is still a lot of corn out and it's really, really wet so bring along a boot dryer or another pair!
Tom7227
My daughter and I were there from last Wed through Sunday. Private ground plus some public. We saw 5 roosters that were within range. I have been going there for 7+ years and it has never been this bad before. Claim is that the birds can't be found cause the corn isn't out. I think that's partially true but I also think the numbers are down even worse than last year. We had 3 dogs, two which are very good pointing dogs.Typically there are 5-10 rooms full of pheasant hunters at the motel and last week there were maybe 2 besides us. There were a few duck hunters there. None of the pheasant hunters I talked to were very happy with their results.Frankly I doubt that I'll be going back at all this year and we have relatives out there. If you're going my recommendation is the Galley Motel where you have a bird cleaning room with a freezer and for $10 an indoor kennel for your dog for as long as you stay. Call and make the reservation soon. Dakota Cafe on the south end of town for breakfast - you can't finish a $5.50 breakfast. Dinner either at Parabooms or the New Frontier. lenny7
My cousins, who farm in southern Hand County (East central SoDak), thinks there more birds this year than last but the corn is making it tough to get to them. He's had nearly 400 birds taken from his farm so far this year. We normally limit out each day, probably averaging getting our limit by 2 to 3pm, but from 11/8 to 11/11, we only got a half limit over all. Some of that was due to corn, some due to poor shooting. We'll be back out in early December. Even a bad year out there is still a great time.
Jarrod32
It'll be worth your time to drive a couple hours west to do your hunting.
