Area 601

Went to deer stand at 2 PM Monday just pumped because it was my first day hunting. I’ve been in Orlando Fl. enjoying the nice weather and sunshine. Walked a big C path to stand around a known deer bedding area to get to the stand. Once 16 feet up in the stand I had to trim out some new growth so I could shoot. Just after I got comfortable here comes a 4 wheeler with a bow hunter in complete camo. He drives into said bedding area and sets up a stand. I don’t think he knew I was there. Once he got the stand up he left on the 4 wheel, I seen a deer about 200 yards away vacating the area running through a cattail swamp, O Great he is chasing the deer away but at least I know there are deer in the area.

½ hour later back comes the 4 wheeler with hunter and he parks next to swamp 100 yards up wind of me and walks to he stand which is also up wind of a 30 acre bedding area. I notice the sun shining on a white shiny something 100 yards away and I bring up my Remington 1100 with a scope set to 3 power to check it out. I can’t make any thing special out of it so I just concentrate on sitting very still. About an hour goes by when I notice a deer standing looking at me right where the shiny object was, which was the antler of a nice spike buck a fork on one side and one spike on the other. Bright sunshine made putting the cross hairs right on his neck-chest area easy and I pulled the trigger. He spun and dropped. I could tell I got him so I sat for 5 minutes to compose my self. I got down and walked through swampy water to the little island where the deer fell. I went and got a 4 wheeler and changed into lighter cloths and knee high rubber boots. Drove to edge of swamp and only had to drag the deer about 100 yards through the wet swamp to the wheeler.
