Biggest Brown In Iowa To Date

Drove over the river at Lansing and hit a couple holes early this morning. I wasn't there long and scored my biggest small stream Iowa brown by about 5 inches bigger than my personal best prior. ENORMOUS Male.

Anyone know of a good taxidermist within 2 hours of Richland Center?

Would put photo up but there is a "NO" dead fish rule on this site.

I have 2 superstitions

Catch 20 inch brown even on first cast and I am done. Was a short morning in the am.

My other superstition is about wasting an obviously dying trout.

Thanks for sending me the photo. That male is absolutely MASSIVE. I am truly jealous. Next year I'll be planning trout fishing trips to Iowa for late October, early November.

which stream where you in? I taught in Lansing for a couple years and am from Waukon originally. My guess is you were at French Creek.....

was a put and take stream.

was really clear water.

The trout came out from under a huge boulder.

huge boulder huh? I know a couple spots like that, was it a boulder or a chunk of limestone that slid off the undercut mini bluff? I have a sneaking suspicion I know exactly where you were.......If it is the stream I am thinking of, that is very nice body of water to fish, it gets better in the winter time
