No farm system

All you guys do is complain about payroll nonstop. THERE IS NO SALARY CAP. You post how the Yankee's have no farm team, someone posts that yes they do and lists all the good players that have come from the farm league and it basically gets ignored and the argument goes back to payroll. What exactly would you suggest the Yankees to do when they clearly have by far the highest revenue. Do you think they should spend 90 million on a payroll because that is what is fair? You owe it to your fans to win. You owe it to the people that are giving you the highest revenue out there to spend the money. You can complain how there should be a salary cap and you might be right but for the love of god quit making thread after thread about how the Yankees are the antichrist or something. They are playing within the rules of the league.

Before you start riping in on me or arguing with me answer these two questions. If Pohlad (the old man when he was alive, or his son now) Had revenue of say 300 million do you think he would care enough about winning to spend 200 million on payroll and make 100 million or do you think he would have a payroll of 100 million, be competitive and pocket 200 million? As a twins fan if your team had the highest revenue in the country wouldn't you want them to spend the most on payroll? If the answer is yes and your whining about the Yankees then your a hypocrite

The Yankees could maybe lower their ticket prices some so some of the average fans can afford to pay for a ticket once and a while! Instead of increasing it more and more, so only the extreme rich, or those who are connected with the media or the organization can afford to go to the games. Give back to the fans? How about quit hosing them in the first place!

your basically right, no way I could have gone to 15 Yankee games a year now like I did when I was in highschool. Cheapest seats now are 20 dollars and they can be tough to get sometimes. (used to sit in the bleachers in late 80's early 90's for 6 dollars) But you can make the same arguement for almost all professional sports. Vikings tickets for a family of 4? How much would that run you with everything? Again owners will do whatever they can get away with. The reason pohlad doesnt charge 50 bucks a ticket is because he can't, because there is no market to support it. You bet if he could charge 300 dollars for box seats he would in a heart beat. Yankees overstimated their market as well and had to bring down the prices. Still ridiculously high but did have to drop them. I'm just happy Steinbrenner at least reinvests most of the revenue back in the team instead of just putting it back in his pockets.
