it works, the distance indicator is what works the best, sometimes the arrow pointing back is off, but if you go by the distance it reads its not that hard to figure out. ( you have ot be able to know where you are somewhat or go by the degrees it reads to know North South, ETC..

If you walk out in the woods and need to get back it wont point you in the direction you walked, but the straight path back. This can cause some trouble if you run into areas that you can get through (ponds thickets).

I usually mark my route as a go---- 1 by the truck, 2 further in the woods, and 3 even further in, then just work my way back through the points.

never had any problems with it picking up the satellites

its a good back up and better than a normal compass if you get turned around in the dark
