Yellow lab, cocker spaniel mix??

I have been looking for a hunting dog, I love yellow labs and have found a Yellow lab (the dad) and a Cocker Spaniel (the mom) mix pup. (the dew claws have been removed also).. My question is do you think that this would be a dog that would be good for Pheasant hunting? Any input would be great. I am looking for a dog that wont get to big because we live in town, and was thinking that this might fit us well. The pups look like purebred Yellow labs so far but I also know that that can change. Thanks for any help.

Hey Scott!! I'm in New Ulm too! Congrats on the new pup. I've hunted over both Cockers and Labs, the combination I'd think would be great! My first cocker was so young the first time out, I dropped a rooster and it was too big to fit her mouth so she just stood over it! It was dead enough, but she wasn't gonna give it up. Now, I have my 3rd Yellow Lab and she too has impressed me from the start. Enjoy! You'll both be enriched by your experiences in the field. Phred52

mnguy152, As fishin58 said 'no stickers' I just trimmed the 'feathers' the day before season, so we didn't have that problem. Those burr-knots are a beach if the fur is too long! Just don't do it too early!! They'll grow back fast enough that you have a cocker again by spring. Phred52
