ryanmitchell
My brother and I have a couple more trips before we retire the boat for the year. After power washing the inside and cleaning the outside we want to wax it up for the winter. What brand of wax do you guys use for this? Do you hand wax or use an electric buffer? Thanks in advance. delmuts
What kind of boat? Metal or glass. On my older Ranger i use a hand wax that has carnuba in it. I was told this is better for older glass boats.
TR21
Meguires has a whole line of marine products. I've used them for years and according to my chemical scientist geek brother in law by far the best. Something about gel coat versus car paint thats totally different and demands a different kind of wax.
CAMAN
Check out Collinite brand Liquid Insulator Wax #845. The stuff is just incredible! Very easy to apply and lasts the longest I have found, and I've tried Meguires, 3M, Turtle and a other products that just didn't hold up to the hype of their commercials.I've used it on my boat, truck and 4 wheeler and have been very happy with it. The dirt slides right off and looks great for a long time. I usually only apply it once a year in the spring.
1DIRTBALL
Whatever wax you end up choosing I can give you a good tip about how to apply it quickly and much easier, saving a lot of wear and tear on your arm's. Use your quarter palm sander! Install part of an old Turkish towel where you install the sandpaper. Dampen the towel slightly first with water from a spray bottle. Then apply a small amount of the wax you are going to use and have at it! This does a fabulous job in less than half the time it might otherwise take. I can wax my whole Dodge Durango in less than half an hour! Good luck! 1DIRTBALL
